Bring your interior concepts to life with architect and film designer Nick Stath. In this course, you’ll learn how to merge cinematic design with real architectural principles, creating spaces that feel authentic, functional, and ready to build. Choose from three different production style briefs including sci fi quarters, a mid-century modern living room, or a brutalist control room, with simulated project details from an art director. You’ll then follow Nick’s full professional workflow from plans and sections, all the way to polished keyframes and 3D walkthroughs. By the end, you’ll have a portfolio ready project that shows true design depth and storytelling power.
Lesson 1
Ideation
In this lesson you will learn the principles of architecture and concept design. From there, you will choose one of three simulated film industry briefs and create your first design sketches.
Lesson 2
Blender Basics
In this optional lesson, students who are unfamiliar with Blender can learn some of the basic tools and concepts Nick will be using throughout this course.
Lesson 3
Initial 3D Blockout
In this lesson you will block out your space with rough shapes based on your design sketches. Then you’ll create a set of black and white 2D paintovers and simulate the first presentation of your design to clients.
Lesson 4
Final 3D Space
In this lesson you will make changes and add details to your 3D space. This includes adding materials, props, and any other elements required to make the scene feel like a real, usable space.
Lesson 5
Finished Deliverables
In this lesson you’ll create keyframes, an isometric shot, a 3D walkthrough, and any other deliverables you feel are needed. Finally, you will learn to effectively present your work to clients and in your portfolio.
